If you are searching for some adventure away from the city, Mammoth Cave National Park is the place to be. Encompassing several portions of the longest known cave system in the entire world, this national park is located about 85 miles northeast of downtown Madison and can be reached in about one hour and 20 minutes by car via route I-65. Guided tours for visitors are offered by the National Park Service.
